Bulldog Rescues

Bulldog rescues are non-profit organizations of breed fanciers who take care of homeless and unwanted dogs and find new homes for them. Bulldogs are not the easiest dogs to own. It takes much time and efforts to train a Bulldog puppy, to exercise an adult Bulldog and fulfill its keeping requirements. It happens that a person who bought a purebred Bulldog gets into difficulties and cannot keep a dog any longer. Those who find stray Bulldogs or notice purebred dogs in shelters should contact local Bulldog rescues and save the dogs.

The common reasons for surrendering a dog are allergies of one of the family members, moving to a new place where pets are not allowed, lack of time for walking with the dog, divorce of the owners, and so forth. Besides, people tend to give up ill and senior dogs. What makes the situation worse is that backyard breeders produce poor quality Bulldogs, because they aim at getting the profit only. Bulldogs from irresponsible breeders tend to end up in rescues or shelters, because of health and behavior problems. Bulldog rescues are full of dogs bought from backyard kennels and puppy mills by ignorant buyers.

Responsible breeders ask all buyers to return the dog to the kennel if the owner cannot keep it. Unfortunately, not all breeders care for the well-being of their dogs and the owners have nothing to do but to look for Bulldog rescues that can accept an unwanted dog. It’s fair to give the pet up to the rescue for it to have an opportunity to find a new home instead of keeping it in bad conditions. Rescues that specialize at a certain dog breed will do their best to find a suitable family for every Bulldog.

Every rescue dog is rehabilitated and given necessary vet assistance, socialization, and training. Perspective adopters can choose any dog available for adoption, but first, they have to prove they are ready for the responsible ownership. Bulldog rescues screen all adopters and their families very carefully to make sure the adopted dogs will be happy with the new family and will not be given up to the rescue by their new owners.
